Product Spotlight: MousepadsChances are you own a computer, or you know someone who owns a computer, and attached to that computer is a mouse. No, I don't have any special psychic powers to know any of this, and yes, I did put 'computer' in that first sentence 3 different times. For this article we will be discussing mousepads! Our mousepads are 7.75 inches tall by X 9.25 inches wide and are 1/4 inch thick. The pad itself is a highly dense polyester foam, which is bendable and can be rolled. As you can see from the image above, our mousepads do have rounded corners. If you have any important text or other elements on those four corners, I would suggest moving them, if possible, to ensure that text is not cropped when printed. Here is an article that goes more in-depth about cropping:
Product Spotlight: Postcards and Greeting CardsWho doesn't love getting mail? Too often these days the only people that write to us are the ones we owe money to. It has become a rare surprise to get something personal in the mail. Why not send a card to that friend in that town where you used to live? Why not send them an amazing piece of art along with it?You can do both together with either a Postcard or a Greeting Card!POSTCARDSOur postcards are printed on heavy card stock that every good postcard should have. The front of the postcard will have a highly detailed vivid print that looks so good it should be framed. The back of the postcard is extremely minimal, with the left side blank to put your thoughts, and the right side pre-lined for the address. There is even a small rectangle ready for a stamp to be placed!Of course, as artists, you may wish to use all of that white space to dra
Prints 101: Editing your PrintsHello again, it's renonevada with another article about how to make sure your prints are the best they can be.This time I'm going back to Prints 101 and tell you how to edit existing prints and add prints to deviations that already exist. This is a frequent question in the Help Desk and in the printscommunity. Most of these instructions will apply to submitting a new deviation as well. A brief article was written about new submit here, if you would like to check that out here.Editing your PrintIf you have a deviation with a print already enabled, you will see the button below right on the deviation page, which looks like the image below.Click that button and you will be taken directly to the Edit page for that print. You will notice that a few sizes have been pre-selected for you. Those are defaults that deviantART chooses based on the size of you

Art for Everyone"To shop, perchance to buy. Aye, there's the art,For in deviantART, what Prints may ship,Whether fine art, canvas, or calendar,Must give us joy."-Billiam ShakespeareI remember when I received my first set of deviantART Prints. This was many years ago, well before we started selling Fine Art or Canvas Prints. I bought a couple of my own deviations to see what the quality would be like, but, more than that, I wanted to see what my art looked like in print. Boy, was I blown away! Digitally coloring an image and seeing it on my computer was a far cry from holding the professionally printed art in my hands. After that, I've been hooked and have purchased many Prints on deviantART from many of my favorite artists. One of the best things about deviantART is the sheer variety of art available. Any genre you can think of is represented here, and if it can be printed, chances are you can find it.A sunset in Tuscon, Arizona?A dress created by the o
Prints Tips: Cropping and the Bleed EdgeHello, everybody! I'm renonevada. For those that don't know, one of my jobs here at deviantART HQ is as quality control for prints. I look at every print before it is purchased for the first time to make sure that it will print properly. Some of the things I look out for are copyright infringement, cropping, pixelation, and to make sure it doesn't violate other policies, such as being too pornographic.I plan on making a series of journals explaining how to make sure your prints will be approved when they get to me. I know that I'm excited to see the notification letting me know a print has been sold and I want to do what I can to make sure you all see it, as well. For this journal, I want to speak about Cropping and the Bleed Edge. This is hands down the number 1 reason why I am forced to reject a print, which in turn will cancel a sale. Because of this, I have tried to make this journal as detailed as possible.BLEED EDGEThe Bleed Edge is the v
Is Your Email Address Correct?Hi everybody,I just wanted to post a quick journal bout an important aspect of both buying and selling here on deviantART, your email address. Please make sure that it is correct to ensure you get all of your emails. To do this, hover your pointer over your username at the top of the screen, then click Settings in the menu that drops down. Once there, click on General and then on the "Change email" link, if necessary.THIS is the direct link.If you are a seller, you will receive your Rejected and Approved prints emails there with information on why a rejection may have occurred. If you are a buyer, You will get promotional emails and other such awesomeness, as well. You will also receive all of your transactional emails there, from the "We have received your order" one all the way to the "Your Super Awesome Prints of Great Taste and Skill have shipped out!"If you have not received an e
Calendars- Updating the Cover YearAll of our Calendars are always updated with the current year automatically. Every July, our Calendar Gnomes refresh our calendars with the next years dates so no matter when you purchase a calendar it will be relevant.Adding a date to the cover of a calendar certainly adds to the professionalism to the design, as most, if not all calendars sold have the dates on the covers. With deviantART, the images will stay in our Prints Shop year after year, so while the calendar may have the correct dates and year on the inside, the calendar cover may show a previous years date. Unfortunately, this may lead to confusion with potential buyers concerning the product they may receive. Here are two current examples of 2014 calendar products. Both are beautiful examples of what we have in our shop and both also have this years date on them. When July 2014 hits, which it will invariably do, the 2014 dates will n

Celebrating Deviousness - March 2015In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.Introducing DMD-CT:iconSserenita:My name is Denise Maritato and I was born and raised in New York. I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil with the support and encouragement of my grandmother, a fellow artist. In 2005, I graduated with honors from The Pratt Institute with a degree in Communications / Graphic Design. After college, I completed a two year internship at a fashion company in Manhattan NY where I designed clothing tags, labels and packaging for hand bags and accessories. I then went on to design balloons for Anagram International and finally found a home working for Amscan Inc. designing halloween costume packaging for the retail chain Party City.In 2006, I met m

All Roads Lead to DeviationIn a week it will be April 15th, 2015. Which in my memory is the day fifteen (15) years ago that we embarked on a new project we'd come to call DeviantArt. jark and I agreed for him to wind down projects on the DMusic Network and instead focus his energy on a similar platform for an emerging group of digital artists we were watching closely as fans. Soon after, he found matteo who was working on an education resource for digital artists known as WastedYouth.org and asked him for some perspective on the project. As a high functioning digital artist and photoshop master (I believe he had co-authored a book on photoshop by this time at age 18!) matteo (Matthew Stephens) made many contributions to what became DeviantArt at this critical moment, not the least of which was the NAME 'DeviantArt'! But perhaps more importantly the idea to include all artists on the platform, not just wallpapers and art made for customizing your computer. jark created the ability for us to easily create new

Changes to the Prints Agreement As part of a general review of the Prints Program we noticed that the Prints Agreement needed clarity. We changed the way in which we describe pricing because we have changed the way in which pricing is displayed during the submission process. We also wanted to clearly explain the impact of promotional offers on the Artist Profit. More than two years ago we blended the Premium Print Program with the Premium Membership (they used to be different). We have now updated the language in order to better distinguish the differences between Premium and Standard Print Program features in the Prints Agreement. Finally, we fixed some word choices and grammar to make the Agreement a better read.To compare the new Prints Agreement with the former Prints Agreement click here. (We've provided you with a helpful document that shows all of the language that has

Good NewsI'm excited to let you know that Autodesk, Inc. has made an investment in deviantART and that one of Autodesk's top executives, Samir Hanna, Vice President of the Autodesk Consumer Group, will become an observer on the deviantART Board of Directors.Autodesk has over 30 years of history in helping designers create amazing things. You may know Autodesk for apps like SketchBook and Pixlr for drawing, illustration, and image editing, or for software like 3ds Max and Maya, which are used by the top film and game studios around the world to create fantastically realistic 3D characters, environments, and effects. Amazing fact: the last 17 Academy Award winners for Best Visual Effects use Autodesk software. Autodesk is also known for engineering software like AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit, which has been used to design some of the world’s tallest buildings, longest bridges, and most incredible machines. With the investment we plan to improve deviantART at a faster pace than we coul
Gallery Makeover ProjectHello everyone Recently my team and I worked tirelessly on a project to help improve the gallery descriptions and thumbnail examples. While that project was indeed tedious with almost 4,000 categories in our system, it was also educational. What I learned from sorting through thousands and thousands of categories was that we have a lot of redundancy and a lot of categories that seem to have been created on a whim that are now simply homes for junk.Over the years, the desire to appease niche communities and people who just wanted a specific area has led to some categories that go up to 4 levels deep, and it's really no wonder it's so confusing for people to figure out where to submit their artwork. The conclusion I've come to is simplicity. While I'm not about to rip apart everything and make 6 stand alone categories, I do believe that there is a lot we can do to simplify the category tree. That includes some of the following:1. Merging categories that ma
Daily Deviation Suggestion Drive!Back By Popular Demand! In January of 2012, the community was challenged by thorns to do something about their complaints on dA. Thus was born this very group! But before the group, it was just a fledgling idea on LiliWrites's account that began with a DD Suggestion Contest. The results of that contest were overwhelming. And so, under the prodding of quite a few Community Volunteers, we're going to do it again! UPDATE: Less than 1 week in and we've already got 100 suggested DDs and 2 accepted suggestions!! Keep up the great work guys and gals. Please remember that you need to leave a link to every deviation you suggest in this journa
